Alain Voge
Domaine Alain Voge: A Northern Rhône Icon
Located in Cornas, Domaine Voge is one of the benchmark names of the northern Rhône Valley and the Cornas appellation. Founded by Henri Voge, the estate was taken over in 1965 by his son Alain after Henri’s untimely passing. Alain shifted the estate’s focus from selling grapes to négociants to bottling its own wines, and played a key role in bringing Cornas to international recognition.
Through visionary work and dedication, Alain revived the estate’s vineyards, many of which are planted on steep granite slopes. Today, the domaine spans 13 hectares:
-
7 hectares of Syrah in Cornas
-
1 hectare in Saint-Joseph
-
5 hectares of Marsanne in Saint-Péray, where acclaimed cuvées like Harmony, Ongrie, and Fleur de Crussol are produced.
The estate began its biodynamic conversion in 2006, achieving full certification in 2013. Alain Voge laid the foundation for an environmentally respectful viticulture that continues today. Following his passing in 2020, the domaine is now managed by Lionel Fraisse, in collaboration with Albéric Mazoyer, former technical director at Chapoutier.
Whether red or white, the wines of Domaine Voge are known for their concentration, authenticity, and graceful aging potential. The Cornas range includes the cuvées Les Chailles, Les Vieilles Vignes, and the exceptional Les Vieilles Fontaines—produced only in outstanding vintages. The latter is a powerful and seductive Cornas, widely praised by international critics.
In Saint-Péray, the domaine also produces sparkling wines made from 100% Marsanne, which have earned increasing acclaim for their quality and finesse.
Today, Domaine Voge stands as an essential reference for Northern Rhône wine lovers. Its wines continue to receive widespread critical acclaim, fueling both its global reputation and growing demand.
