Description

Presentation

The Krug Rosé Krug ED 25 is a refined expression of Champagne rosé, uniting depth, complexity and delicacy in a singular cuvée. Crafted by one of the region’s most revered houses, this wine offers a sophisticated interpretation of rosé Champagne, with a style that is both hedonistic and meticulously structured. It is intended for enthusiasts who appreciate the tension between freshness, aromatic intensity and a long, precise finish.

This cuvée stands out for its ability to combine the vinosity of great still wines with the finesse of the finest bubbles. Behind its apparent charm lies a serious, gastronomic Champagne, designed as much for the table as for contemplation. Each Edition reflects a specific blend, capturing the spirit of a particular year while staying true to the timeless signature of Krug.

Origin and Winemaking

  • The terroir of this Champagne comes from a selection of crus in the heart of the Champagne region, notably the Montagne de Reims and surrounding areas, where chalky soils impart tension, minerality and remarkable ageing potential. The cool continental climate allows a slow ripening of the grapes, preserving acidity and aromatic precision.
  • The blend traditionally brings together the three great Champagne varieties: Pinot Noir for structure and intensity, Chardonnay for elegance and freshness, and Meunier for roundness and fruit. A proportion of still red wine from Pinot Noir is added to give the rosé its colour and extra dimension of red fruit.
  • Vinification is carried out in the purest Champagne tradition, with careful selection of reserve wines to build complexity. The wine spends an extended time ageing on lees in bottle, which develops its creamy texture, fine bubbles and complex bouquet of brioche, spices and fruit, while dosage is kept in balance to highlight purity rather than sweetness.

Tasting

  • Appearance
The Krug Rosé Krug ED 25 displays a delicate, luminous pink hue with subtle copper highlights. The effervescence is extremely fine and persistent, forming a continuous bead that testifies to long ageing and impeccable winemaking.
  • Nose
The bouquet opens with notes of wild red berries, citrus zest and hints of blood orange, followed by nuances of brioche, dried flowers and gentle spices. With aeration, more complex aromas emerge: crushed strawberries, pink grapefruit, a touch of smoke and a discreet, chalky minerality.
  • Palate
On the palate, the attack is both crisp and ample, with a precise acidity structuring the wine. Flavours of raspberry, redcurrant and cherry intertwine with notes of pastry, honey and subtle peppery and herbal touches. The texture is silky yet energetic, carried by very fine bubbles, and the finish is long, saline and finely tannic, calling for another sip.

Food Pairings & Serving Occasions

  • This cuvée shines with refined cuisine such as:
    • Carpaccio of langoustines or lightly seared scallops
    • Sushi and sashimi, especially tuna or salmon
    • Duck breast with red berries or roasted poultry
    • Delicate dishes featuring truffle or fine charcuterie
  • It is ideal for special occasions: intimate dinners, gastronomic tastings, or as a centerpiece Champagne for celebrations where elegance and character are both sought. It can be enjoyed as an aperitif for seasoned palates, but reveals its full dimension at the table.

Ageing Potential and Serving

  • The earliest drinking window begins a few years after disgorgement, when the balance between fruit and complexity starts to express itself harmoniously.
  • Thanks to its structure and the quality of its blend, this Champagne has a strong ageing potential, easily developing additional nuances of dried fruit, spices and undergrowth over 10 years or more in a good cellar.
  • Serve chilled but not overly cold, ideally between 10 and 12°C, in large tulip or white wine glasses to allow the bouquet to fully open and the texture to express its full richness.
