Presentation
The
Tourettes blanc Maison Delas 2023 is a refined white Rhône wine that reflects the elegance and precision for which this historic house is renowned. Crafted in a contemporary yet deeply rooted style, it showcases the freshness and aromatic richness typical of northern Rhône whites, while preserving an underlying structure that invites gastronomic pairings. This cuvée offers a harmonious balance between vibrant fruit, floral nuances and discreet oak, delivering a wine that is both approachable in its youth and complex enough to reward attentive tasting.
Origin and Winemaking
- The wine hails from the Rhône Valley, a region known for its varied terroir of steep slopes, granitic soils and alluvial influences. These conditions favour low yields, good drainage and optimal ripening, resulting in grapes of notable concentration and aromatic purity.
- This white is predominantly crafted from Marsanne and Roussanne, the emblematic white grape varieties of the northern Rhône. Marsanne brings body, structure and notes of stone fruit, while Roussanne contributes finesse, aromatic complexity and a delicate floral character.
- Vinification is carried out with particular care to preserve freshness and texture: gentle pressing, fermentation at controlled temperatures and a period of maturation on fine lees. Part of the wine may be aged in oak barrels, used with restraint, to add volume and subtle spicy and toasted nuances without masking the expression of the fruit and terroir.
Tasting
- Appearance
Pale gold colour with bright reflections, showing a beautiful limpidity and a slightly oily texture that suggests good richness on the palate.
- Nose
Expressive and finely layered, with notes of white peach, apricot and pear, followed by hints of acacia blossom, almond and a light touch of honey. Subtle accents of fresh herbs and citrus zest bring lift and precision.
- Palate
The attack is supple and rounded, supported by a fresh, well-defined acidity. The mid-palate reveals a generous, almost creamy texture, balanced by a mineral backbone. Flavours of ripe stone fruit, citrus and delicate spice unfold into a long, elegant finish, with a lingering saline impression characteristic of great Rhône whites.
Food Pairings & Serving Occasions
- This wine pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as:
- seared scallops or grilled prawns,
- roast poultry with herbs,
- creamy poultry or veal dishes,
- semi-hard cheeses and mature goat’s cheese.
- Enjoy it during a gastronomic dinner, a festive meal centred around fish or white meats, or during a tasting evening with enthusiasts wishing to explore the subtleties of Rhône whites. It also shines as an aperitif for those who appreciate structured, characterful white wines.
Cellaring Potential and Serving
- The optimal drinking window begins from its release and extends over the next 2 to 3 years for a youthful, vibrant profile.
- With its structure and balance, it offers a cellaring potential of around 5 to 7 years, during which time aromas of honey, dried fruit and nuts will develop while preserving a core of freshness.
- Serve chilled but not too cold, ideally between 10 and 12°C, in medium-sized white wine glasses. A brief opening in advance allows the wine to fully express its aromatic complexity and texture.
