The
Vintage Late Release Rosé Roederer Louis 1995 is a rare opportunity to discover an aged rosé Champagne at perfect maturity. Elaborated by one of the most prestigious houses of Reims, this late-disgorged cuvée embodies a refined and complex style, where the vibrant character of rosé Champagne meets the patina of time. The 1995 vintage, celebrated in Champagne for its balance and harmony, offers here a wine of great depth, designed for demanding enthusiasts looking for nuance, texture, and length rather than exuberance.
Origin and Winemaking
- The grapes come from some of the finest crus of Champagne, rooted in a mosaic of chalk, clay and limestone that ensures both tension and elegance. This terroir, typical of the region, brings finesse of bubbles, salinity, and remarkable ageing capacity.
- The blend traditionally favours Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with a proportion of Pinot Noir vinified as red wine to give the rosé its colour and structure. Pinot Noir brings body and aromas of red fruits, while Chardonnay contributes freshness, precision, and a long, mineral finish.
- The winemaking follows the great traditions of the House: gentle pressing, fermentation in stainless steel or partially in oak, then a long ageing on lees in bottle, extended here thanks to the late release. This prolonged maturation refines the effervescence, develops notes of brioche and dried fruits, and harmonises the whole without heaviness.
Tasting
- Appearance
The robe shows a deep salmon-pink hue, slightly coppery, with delicate, persistent bubbles forming a fine, regular cordon.
- Nose
The bouquet is complex and evolved, combining aromas of wild strawberries, redcurrant and candied cherries with touches of dried rose petals, blood orange, brioche, toasted hazelnut and a hint of undergrowth and spice, testimony to the long ageing.
- Palate
On the palate, the texture is ample and silky, supported by an acidity still vibrant for the vintage. Flavours of stewed red fruits, citrus zest, dried fruits and subtle notes of cocoa and smoke unfold in layers. The finish is long, savoury and saline, with great finesse of bubble and perfect integration of maturity.
Food Pairing & Serving Occasions
- This rosé Champagne pairs beautifully with:
- fine charcuterie and refined terrines,
- duck breast with red fruit sauce,
- roasted langoustines or lobster,
- soft cheeses with bloomy rind, such as brie de Meaux or chaource.
- It is ideal for intimate, contemplative tastings, great gastronomic meals, or to celebrate a milestone event where a mature, complex Champagne can be savoured slowly and appreciated for its full aromatic evolution.
Ageing Potential and Serving
- The optimal drinking window is now open, for lovers of mature Champagne, and will extend over the coming years as long as the bottles are well stored.
- The wine has reached a beautiful plateau of maturity, but can still be cellared for a few more years for those who enjoy more evolved, tertiary notes.
- Serve at around 10–12°C, in sufficiently large flutes or white wine glasses, to allow the bouquet to develop fully and appreciate all the subtleties of this exceptional 1995 rosé vintage.
